Update #5
May 15, 2023
Progress Towards Our Goals
Over the past two weeks, we've made significant strides towards finishing our project. We've also focused our efforts on creating novel features that differentiate our app from similar products in the healthcare sector. For example, we are prototyping a feature which identifies the medicine using your camera and AI technology. When we eventually code the app after the senior project, we can use one of the many APIs available to identify images and this will help our app be a little more easy to use for patients who have difficulty differentiating between pills. We are additionally planning to use NFC technology to identify medication so you can tap your phone to the prescription bottle and it will load the page in the app. We have scheduled a breakfast with Dr Nayak on May 20th in order to go over the final product and see if he has any suggestions for final refinement of our prototype.

This is a screenshot of NFC tags and silicone molding kit that we ordered from Amazon. We will use this in conjunction with sample pill bottles that we already have to create our custom ID bracelets and pill bottle caps in the next week.

Here is the prototype of the AI identification feature that we mentioned above. This will aid patients in adding new medications to our app and hold them accountable with logging their medications every day (they will have to "scan in" each time they take the pills/treatments).

These are some examples of the tasks that we've recently completed and the ones we are currently working on (from Linear).
Steps to Finish Our Project
In order to finish our project, we have to complete the prototyping of our app and create the prototypes of our physical devices. We intend to use the remainder of this week/the weekend to test some new features that we brainstormed recently and review our existing features to finalize them. At the start of next week, we will begin molding the silicone bracelets and programming them. At this time, we will also use the NFC stickers we purchased to customize pill bottle caps, as mentioned above. As the week continues, we will incorporate these new developments into our existing presentation. If time permits, we will also animate a short video for this website.
Changes to Our Project
NFC functionality is a new change to our project. We were initially planning to make a bracelet that connects with the app but now we want to make a system of NFC-enabled features that allows the user to navigate our app much more quickly. Our statistics viewing mode is also being modified so that patients and doctors can export a CSV of past health data to share with new providers.
Upcoming Issues or Risks
Budgeting our time effectively over the next two weeks will be crucial, as we plan to add more features in a period of time when we hoped that the app would be finished. However, we think that the risk will be worth the reward, since some of these features are new to industry.
